Biography

FILM DIRECTOR- WRITER- RESEARCHER – TECH CREATOR
Saad Salem is a Syrian filmmaker, writer, and director who began his creative path in 2015. He’s passionate about telling human stories with honesty, simplicity, and visual beauty.
His short films often explore social and personal themes in a minimal yet impactful way. Projects like “The Prisoner”, which looks at smoking from a deeply human lens, and “HungerMeter”, an animation tackling hunger and poverty, reflect his interest in making cinema that says something — not just shows something.
Saad is currently developing new cinematic projects that aim to push the boundaries of storytelling while staying grounded in ethical and human values.
He also holds an academic background in Economics, which helps him approach both art and research with analytical depth. This perspective feeds into his intellectual projects, some of which are still unreleased.
Alongside film, Saad is interested in the intersection between art, science, and technology. He’s working on several tech-based applications designed to offer practical solutions to everyday problems — part of his larger vision to create things that matter, both emotionally and socially.
At his core, Saad believes filmmaking is more than just storytelling — it’s a way to inspire thought, evoke feeling, and sometimes… to start change.
